Ok, they are saman dancer and they are wearing Kerawang Gayo, a traditional dress from Gayo, and it special for performing saman dance, so what is sama dance????
Saman or a thousand hands dance is a traditional dance of Gayo people, its origin is from Gayo lues Regency. "Saman" name was taken from the name of person who created and developed this dance, his name is Syeikh Saman, and he was one of the Muslim scholars who spread Islam religion in Aceh, Sumatra, Indonesia. The poems or songs that used in this dance are used to be in Arabic and Gayo, but nowadays most of the quatrains are in Gayo language since maybe the mastery of Arabic now gradually decreased, but in the opening of this dance, the dancer still use the Arabic. The songs in the dance contain religious message, satire, advice and the quatrain love.
Saman has spread widely to some districts, so saman is not only performed by Gayo Lues people now. Besides in Gayo Lues, you can see saman in Aceh tenggara, Bener meriah and Aceh tengah Regency and even some people said now it exists in Aceh Timur especially in Lokop subdistrict, it located at the border between Aceh Timur and Gayo Lues regency. The Saman dance is not only pleasurable for Gayonese community, but also the wider public community enjoy it very much and even people from abroad, some saman groups are invited to other countries for saman show.
This situation saman often experienced changed, however although saman change due to new creations, the originality still continue to be maintained. If you want to watch the performance of saman dance that still original, you visit Blangkeren subdistrict in Gayo Lues regency.

While performing, the dancer sat lined up long nearby with genuflection. Penangkat sat in the middle of the others dancers. The movement and the song that were sung had relations with dynamic, synchronism and showed the solidarity.
